Jews of the Earth

“The Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” — Psalm 24:1

We recognize that the climate crisis and environmental destruction are the most pressing moral and spiritual issues of our day. If we take the psalmist seriously, we cannot be silent or inactive. We must do our part. We work with congregations to educate and encourage their members to reduce their carbon footprint with the goal of becoming carbon neutral by switching to renewable energy, divesting from fossil fuels, buying carbon offsets, reducing consumption of animal products, and decreasing overall consumption. We also work with other groups to advocate for afforestation, a carbon tax, and the Green New Deal. We believe that each of us has a responsibility to do all that we can to ameliorate the climate crisis and protect God’s Creation.

Eco-Quote

"There are three ways in which we may relate ourselves to the world: we may exploit it, we may enjoy it, we may accept it in awe."

- Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
